DERBYSTAR is one of the leading ball manufacturers and suppliers for numerous national and international football leagues at the highest level. WHAT MAKES DERBYSTAR SPECIAL
Since its founding, DERBYSTAR has specialised in producing high-quality hand-stitched footballs. Today, the product range also includes goalkeeper gloves, apparel, training accessories, and much more.
ORIGIN AND HISTORY
The first DERBYSTAR balls were produced in 1963 in a small leather factory in Goch, Lower Rhine, alongside riding saddles and gaiters. The name DERBYSTAR was inspired by the derby in horse and football sports, combined with a clear commitment to top quality.
In 1968, due to its great success, the “ball department” was spun off and the independent company DERBYSTAR was founded by Eigil Nielsen and Josef Moll-Thissen.

DERBYSTAR develops high-quality sports products for clubs and athletes. It doesn’t matter whether for small local league teams, ambitious clubs from higher divisions, or professional squads. As a ball specialist, DERBYSTAR offers the right quality ball for every level of play and every age group in club sports.
SPECIAL PRODUCTS AND TECHNOLOGIES
Since the 2018/19 season, DERBYSTAR has been the official match ball supplier for the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga. The partnership was recently extended through the 2025/26 season. Thus, Bundesliga clubs will continue to hunt for goals with DERBYSTAR’s flagship match ball – the BUNDESLIGA BRILLANT APS.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
DERBYSTAR takes its social responsibility seriously and is involved in various projects, such as the FAIRTRADE initiative and its own SAHEP programme to support and promote production workers.
