How Our Website Meets Accessibility Requirements

Status of Compliance with the Requirements

Our products and services are findable, accessible and usable for people with disabilities in the usual manner, without undue difficulty and generally without outside assistance. Our website is largely compliant with the BFSG and the BFSGV. However, some barriers still exist on our pages. We are actively working to remove them in the future. The following exceptions and incompatibilities exist:

The following content is not accessible because it does not comply with the underlying harmonised standard EN 301 549:

  • A page has no language specified in the HTML.
  • On some pages, there are elements with the attribute aria-hidden that are also focusable. As a result, these elements are accessible to assistive technologies even though they should be hidden.
  • 1.1.1 Non-text content – Empty alt element with title – The < img > has alt="" and a title="..." attribute.
  • 1.3.1 Information and relationships – Incorrect or missing use of headings (< h1 >, < h2 > etc.), landmarks (< nav >, < main > etc.) or associations between elements (e.g. labels and form fields). This makes the page structure confusing for screen reader users. Structure and semantics – Visually structured but not programmatically structured content (e.g. hidden content still being announced).
  • 1.3.2 Meaningful sequence – Content behind the modal dialog remains accessible – The content behind the modal dialog is not programmatically hidden from assistive technologies.
  • 1.4.3 Contrast (minimum) – Insufficient contrast in normal text – The colour contrast between foreground and background of normal text content is insufficient. Insufficient contrast for large text: The colour contrast between foreground and background of large text is insufficient.
  • 2.1.1 No keyboard trap – Users navigating with the keyboard (e.g. using the tab key) may get stuck in an element and not be able to move on, rendering the page unusable.
  • 2.4.3 Focus order – Positive tabindex value – Several elements have a tabindex="..." attribute with a value greater than 0. Incorrect reading/focus order: Focus (via screen reader or keyboard) jumps illogically or reads elements outside the visual context. Unordered navigation – The keyboard (and screen reader) focus follows an illogical order or jumps between unexpected areas.
  • 2.4.4 Link purpose (in context) – Missing alt attribute – The image in the link has no corresponding alt="..." attribute. No link text – The link contains no text.
  • 2.4.6 Headings and labels – Headings or labels do not clearly describe the section or content, impairing clarity for users of assistive technologies.
  • 2.5.3 Label in name – This rule checks whether interactive elements such as buttons or links include their full visible text as part of their accessible name, e.g. when using aria-label. This is particularly important for users who control the website by voice input.
  • 3.3.2 Labels or instructions – Placeholder for label – The form control uses only placeholder="..." to provide a visible label.
  • 4.1.2 Name, role, value – Invalid aria-labelledby – The aria-labelledby="..." attribute of the element refers to an invalid or non-existent ID. A form field requires an accessible name so that screen readers can recognise its purpose. The accessible name of an < iframe > is important to describe its topic or purpose. – With active SVG, the aria-label is missing – The < svg > element is the only content of an actionable element (such as a link or button), but neither the < svg > element nor the actionable element has an accessible name.
